Consortiums

When you decide to commission me as your composer for your project, 99% of the time, I will always recommend a consortium.

Why?

In a consortium, you have the composer and the lead commissioner. The lead commissioner will only pay 15-20% of the commission fee. How the lead commissioner pays the commission fee is up to them and can be arranged upon discussion.

The remaining balance is paid for by the buy-in participants. Buy-ins will pay the remaining balance of the commission fee and will split between x number of participants. The buy-in participants will be required to fill out a google form to join the consortium. The buy-in participants will also be given a deadline to pay the fee.

For example: if there is a consortium of a six minute piece for large chamber ensemble, the commission fee is $6,300. The lead commissioner decides to pay 18% ($1,134) of the fee. The remaining balance would be $5,166. If 20 buy-in participants join the consortium, each buy-in participant would pay $258 once!

In other words, by turning your project into a consortium, you are not only saving money, you are also sharing the creation experience with other participants and allowing multiple performances.
