A Quest for Tuba

A Quest for Tuba – for solo tuba and euphonium choir (12 euphoniums) (2015)

Duration ca. 4:00 minutes

Composed for the 2015 Midwest Regional Tuba/Euphonium Conference at Bowling Green State University

When we think of the word, quest, we usually define it as either a long trip, or an exciting adventure. While this particular piece is truly exciting, it is perhaps the shortest quest that one has ever thought of. For the tuba, that is not a problem.

In this four-minute quest, the tuba explores through many places, which involve influences by Ralph Vaughn Williams, Edward Gregson, and Philip Harper. Although the tuba soloist is pursuing this quest, the euphonium choir is not left out by any means necessary. The choir will assist, join along side, and/or encounter the soloist throughout the quest.
